Sunlight…..by SLA

When we went to the bloggers event recently at SLA (Serge Louis Alvarez) we were treated to a sneak peak of the latest fashion collection – Sunlight. Its strong bright colours made me feel like spring was just moments away and guess who got to be the model?

The colours here do not do the collection justice, the colours are much more vibrant and strong. Colours that I would not usually wear but I was some how drawn to the hot orange. You’ll just have to drop in and check it out for yourself.

Head makeup artist, Hannah, put her spin on the collection and gave us a few great tips and tricks along the way.

My favourite, well I love all of them but i thought that this one was worth a mention, the Pre Makeup Base. Its light and non oily and it moisturises and prepares your skin for makeup that will last the day. So that is all good stuff but the awesome bit is it has gold pigments of pearl in it so it gives your skin and amazing glow. You can use it all over or as a highlight on the parts the sun falls on.

And the finished product! I have never received so many compliments about how good my skin looked and of course Hannahs fantastic work. I was walking on  air….or sunlight!

So why not visit the awesome girls at SLA Balmain or check it out online

Head to our Facebook page for more pics of SLA fantastic products and our day at the SLA Studio.

A Saturday with Serge Louis Alvarez

Our first bloggers only event! We were not sure what to expect but being all about makeup we did not hesitate to reply. We ventured out on Saturday to lovely Balmain in Sydney to the SLA (Serge Louis Alvarez) Makeup Studio. Wow! What a place. We were greeted by Nicole with hot coffee and homemade biscuits (yum) and were then given the grand tour. We got an exclusive look at the great makeup studio/classroom space upstairs and the soon to be bridal studio.

Back downstairs we were left to have a play. Foundations, eyeshadows, moisturisers, pencils, glosses, lashes, organics, powders, creams and all in sleek packaging that would compliment any ladies makeup bag. They even have some products made from crushed pearls and pure pigmentation of 55-60% which give an outstanding high quality and long lasting colour. The colour in the pot is the exact colour that will go on, and stay on, your eyes. Awesome!

We were given an overview of the company by Shannon. It sure makes a difference in attitude and listening when someone is so passionate about a subject and Shannon definitely kept us captivated. The brand was created by makeup artist Serge Louis Alvarez in the early 1980’s when he recognised a need for professional makeup. It is now available in over 34 countries worldwide. All the products are produced from natural origin ingredients and the Bio product group has been ecocert certified, wherever possible they also use ingredients from Fair Trade countries.

Now to the elusive makeup studio. The SLA Academy Sydney offers professional, international courses delivered straight from the Paris SLA Academy. The SLA Academy Sydney offers unique European style training fused with Australian techniques and trainers. On offer is everything from Artistic techniques to beginner’s makeup to retail techniques and the advanced. Coming up very soon, 4th and 5th of September 2011, SLA have a very exclusive 2 day Makeup Training course with internationally renowned Nicola Burford. If you’re interested get in quick as I’m sure spaces will fill quickly. To book click here Book

We had a great time and learned so much and would like to thank Nicole, Shannon and Hannah for being such great hosts. We definitely have found some great new products and can’t wait to see you at IMATS.

Visit SLA  at 433 Darling Street, Balmain or online and stay tuned for the makeup demonstration by Hannah and the contents of the amazing goodies bag.
