Yes To Carrots, C me blush lip tint – I have loved this brand for a long time and I was so excited to see that this month Bellabox included the famous Yes To Carrots Lip Tint, and in my fave colour – C Me Blush. What is so awesome about all of this brands products and especially the lip tints is that they are all 95% organic, containing a blend of fruits and veggies. Hey, why should your insides get all that good stuff? Now your lips and face can join in on the fun. RRP: $9.95 for 2.6 gms, available from David Jones and Priceline.

Pure Fiji Coconut Hydrating Body Lotion – The first thing I noticed about this product was the amazing smell, it takes you back to lying on a tropical beach somewhere soaking up the hot sun. No wonder this lotion smells so delicious. Pure Fiji Coconut Hydrating Lotion contains a blend of coconut milk and exotic nuts, each working together to hydrate the skin making it feel soft and fresh. I love applying the lotion after you get out of a hot shower, the smell really feels up the whole bathroom and makes your worries drift away and think of holidays. RRP: $29.95 for 100mls.

Bellamer Eye Balm – Oh Bellamer Botanical Skin Care, these guys are so amazing! All their products are natural and 100% plant derived, combined they promote the skins own ability to heal and make it smooth and fresh. Now that’s what we like to hear, all natural products that wont harm our skin and make us look great! I have only used this eye balm a couple of times so far and it seems to be working. The thing about this product is that it does leave a slight amount of excess, that is easily fix though with a quick wipe.  I recommend using the eye cream twice a day to get maximum benefits and fight away those wrinkles. Hair So Healthy It Shines Like Liquid Gold

By now I think all of you know how much The Makeup Case is obsessed with hair products…ummm hello…massivly obsessed is probably the best way to describe it. So after sucking out all my Herbal Essence from the bottle I was on the hunt for something new! Something that would tame my locks and make them look as shiny as Kim Kardasians 72 day wedding ring!

Now, I am going to tell you something that will knock those sweet Marc Jacobs flats of your feet…are you ready…I found the perfect product for only $3.95, that’s only 2 gold coins!

The product in question is Organic Care Dry Moist Shampoo and Conditioner. Even after I used this products for the first time I feel completely head over heels in love, it left my hair super hydrated, shiny, smooth, extremely manageable and with that all important glossy look.

Though the best part about using Organic Care I think is that you are treating your hair without feeding it all those nasty chemicals like parabens and petrochemical cleansers. Even the sound of those words make me squirm! And as an added bonus, you are also being good to the environment by using Organic Care, all their packaging is plant-based and 100% biodegradable, as well as being cruelty free. Great hair plus the warm-hearted feeling of knowing you are doing a good deed.

Check out all of Natures Organics products on their website, you may even win an iPad 2.

RRP: $3.95 for 400mls. Avaliable from Woolworths.

Tangled, untangled

I have been meaning to get myself a detangler for my hair for ages. When I do think about it, I’m out and I get overwhelmed by the choice and give up, I wish this was the case when I enter the confectionary isle in the supermarket!

So when Garnier sent us a detangle at Christmas I thought all my prayers had been answered. I didn’t have to pick one and I would have un-tangled hair! It is the Garnier Fructis Instant Detangler, Nutri-Repair for dry, damaged hair.

I followed the instruction and applied it to my hair just after I washed it, so it was still wet, and combed it through. My hair gets really knotty if I don’t take the time to brush it regularly and can still be tangled after I have used conditioner. I found that it made it much easier to comb through when it was wet but the best bit was when I got up the next morning. I found that my hair was not as tangled as usual and really easy to brush out any pesky tangles that did find their way into my hair over night.

I have been using it each time I wash my hair. Not only does it detangle but it is also enriched with fruit oils that penetrate the hair and nourish and repair it from within. Oh and it really is light weight so I don’t feel like I am wearing a helmut all day! My hair isn’t really dry and damaged but the summer sun and swimming all the time does take its toll on my hair and this does help. So try it, I recommend it!

Check it out at Garnier or in store where ever you buy your fav Garnier products.

A Christmas Miracle

Let me hear a big gigantic holla if you suffer from dry fizzy hair! Trust me peeps, I hear your pain. I have been suffering from frizzy hair for as long as I can remember, on more than one occasion I think it has actually made me cry (sob, sob).

Now, my crying days are over thanks to my man David Babaii new Miracle Oil Hair Elixer! Goodbye to my frizz, goodbye to my dryness, a stick it where the sun don’t shine to my tears and a big hello to my soft frizz free golden locks.

Oh, life has never been better. This could not have come at the more perfect time with party season just around the corner my tresses were in need of a big pick me up. With all my favorite friends using it like you know, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie (probably Brad too), Olivia Wilde, Scarlett Johansson but I am not going to name drop any further, oh wait, maybe I will and say one more…Amy Ross. I knew this was going to be an amazing product.

Miracle Oil is jammed packed with certified organic argan oil, immortelle essential oil for brightening and smoothing the hair,  acai berry oil with antioxidant properties to fight free radicals damage, sweet almond oil which acts as a delicate moisturising and protective agent, pequi fruit oil to revive dry hair and repair coloured or chemically treated hair and  lastly brazil nut oil which is rich in protein, vitamin A and omega 6 to nourish the hair.  Phew, what a list! Miracle oil also does not use any harmful chemicals or contain any toxins, how rad is that?

Once my hair is washed and towel dried  I work a few drops through making sure I don’t apply the oil near my roots or on my fringe (I made that mistake and I ended up having to re-wash my hair, not happy). I then blow dry and style my hair in the usual way. Since using Miracle Oil all my fly aways have disappeared, my hair is easier to manage and it seems to have become brighter, hey, I am not complaining. I have even had a few compliments about how healthy my hair is looking!

RRP: $29.95 for 120mls. For full stockist and store locator visit David Babaii website, here.

Fishtails and Lauren, so fashionable darling..

A few posts ago I confessed to you all my love of braids. Not much has changed since I wrote that post, I still love braids more than ever. I know, it’s a sickness but, at least it’s a good kind of sickness, right?

So last night when I was racing about all over You Tube searching beauty videos (there are some really good ones out there, mixed amongst the outrageous number of bad ones), I found a great instructional video on how to do a great Fishtail Braid. And it was made by the very fashionable Lauren Conrad!

I have never been great with Fishtail Braids, shying away from them at Makeup School was a great pass time of mine. I always thought they looked to complicated and something I could never get right. So plucking up the courage I thought I would give it ago, the video made it all look so simple,  with easy step by step instructions. And guess what?  I loved the result, it wasnt that hard at all, I don’t know what I was so worried about all this time.

And just incase you want to watch the great video in question, here you go…

Isn’t it great? It is so easy to follow and makes the Fishtail Braid seem so uncomplicated.

Do you guys watch beauty videos on You Tube? We would love to know what ones you think are the best.

Braided Innocence.

Braids! Every girl loves them (at least that is my opinion and the only one that counts, right!) and I am no exception to that theory. I absolutley love braids, they are cute, girly and innocent, taking me back to a time where I cared more about ice cream then I did about dieting. When days were filled with adventure and maybe getting the odd punch or two from my little sister (yep, that was a regular ocurance for me).

When its a beautiful hot summer day outside and I dont want to risk that dreaded frizz then braids are my first choice. A lot of girls seem to think braids are hard, maybe they are but once you get the hang of it and practice a few times you can have a beautiful braided up do in minutes. That is what I am going to show you in this post, glamour within minutes.

First start off by parting your hair in the middle. Braid from the front of your hairline down into a plait. Repeat on the other side. Once you have braided each side combine the two sides and plait into one. Secure with a thin elastic.

Wrap the plait up into a low bun.

DIY up-do « i really like weddings

I found this great blog “I really like weddings” with some great how to hair styles, make sure you chack it out. DIY up-do « i really like weddings.

Oil my hair….from Morocco!

For someone who never does anything to their hair, I have been converted! I only ever get a hair cut when it just gets so knotty and I cant get a comb through it, so once a year, (if I’m lucky) so to put something in my hair every time I wash it, is a massive stretch for me. If I dont though, I really wish I had.

I’m talking about the latest hair craze Moroccan oil. I have the hair treatment and I love it. It protects against UV damage and other environmental hazards and features a patented argan oil based formula rich in vitamins A, E and F as well as phenols and tocopherols to nourish the hair and scalp, promote healing, and repair and relieve dry, itchy conditions.

I apply about a 20 cent piece size amount to my hair (I have pretty long hair) when its wet and comb it all the way through. I usually blow dry my hair, so my fringe sits right, and I found that it takes away most the fly aways and really smooths my hair. Once my hair is dry I then apply a really small amount in my hands, rub it around and then smooth it over my hair again, just to make all those pesky fly aways (that didn’t stick the first time)  stay down. I used to quickly run over my hair with a straightener for ultra sleek, but have found that a blow dry and Moroccan oil is enough.

I was a bit sceptical to put oil in my hair at first, but after a friend said they use it all the time I though I should at least give it a go. It doesn’t make your hair greasy or heavy at all. I have a problem where I put to much product in my hair, even if I put too much, it still absorbs and I don’t get left with oily hair. The only down side…..it is a bit expensive.

Moroccan Oil treatment is a Jack of all trades, its a weightless finishing, styling and shine product in one. (Awesome!) It absorbs into the hair instantly, leaving a natural, silky finish and brilliant shine. I love how soft it makes my hair and it keeps it straight and free from fly aways till at least the third day. The treatment is also great for thick, unmanageable hair, restores dull, lifeless locks, and helps brittle hair become more supple.

Why not give it ago and check out the Moroccan oil range

RRP 100ml $52.50/25ml $26.50

Old Style Hair

We love these old hair care ads so we thought we would share them with you all. It’s funny to see that women from all eras have the same hair concerns as we do today! Although the styles may be a little bit different. Its also good that these brands are still around today.

A touch of glamour? Yes please.

Looking for something beautiful to decorate your hair with? Something for Spring Carnival perhaps?? Well I have found something so pretty that I need to share it with you. My Mum came over recently baring gifts (she is only allowed to come over if she has a gift in hand..nah…kidding. Wouldnt that be nice though). She saw these cute as a button hair accessories and instantly thought of me. I am so glad she did because I am absolutely in love with them.

They are two separate flower shaped hair pieces (one in a pretty dusty pink and the other in an off white) made “with love” by local designer Hayley Leek, who aptly describes them as ‘shabby sheik’. I have worn them twice now and have had a mountain of compliments already. You can wear the pieces separately or together like I have done below.

The pieces themselves are made from lace and chiffon, they are then attached to a clip that you secure to your hair. I love to pull a section of hair from the side of my head, pin it in place and then attach the gorgeous flower pieces.

These pieces add a touch of vintage glamour to your outfit and what I love about them in particular is that you can wear them out for a night on the town, shopping with the girls or even a wedding, they really go with everything.

RRP: $10.00 (BTW how awesome is that). Pieces are ordered directly through Hayley herself. Email us here at The Makeup Case, themakeupcase@hotmail.com and we will pass on Hayleys details.
