My Long Haul Essentials

I have to admit I am not a great traveller. I get nervous, my hands get sweaty on take off and I can’t settle until the seatbelt sign gets turned off. In saying that, I love travelling and have had the opportunity to visit many amazing places. Along the way I have found my must have plane items that manage to calm me down and make my skin less hideous on arrival.

An essential on any long haul flight is a great lip balm. At the moment I am loving Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm, it is actually amazing! Packed with essential rose wax and Shea butter it makes your lips feel divine and healthy. When you apply the balm it feels like it is melting on your lips and I don’t mean that in a bad way, it just that you can actually feel it working to hydrate your smackers. What I also love about this lip balm is that it has a slight hint of pink to it, just enough to make your lips look delicious. This little baby is defiantly hoping into my clear plastic bag on my next overseas plane journey.

RRP: $30 for 15mls. Available from Myers and David Jones.

Hydration cream is a must have! I love to apply my Trilogy Ultra Hydrating face cream every 2 hours on a long flight. What I love about this cream aside from the fact that it hydrates is that it has Lavender in it. All the time I apply the cream I get a wif of Lavender and it calms me down straight away. The cream is also very light weight so it won’t clog my pores. With the harsh air conditioning on planes it is so beneficial to your skin to have a hydrating cream on hand.

RRP: $49 for 75mls. Available from Priceline. * Image coutesy of Trilogy

It goes without saying that water is a MAJOR must on a flight. It hydrates your body, takes away the bad toxins and makes your skin look fresh. On a recent trip fiancé and I both bought a 1lt bottle and they were gone before we even left Australia. I find that I get so thirsty on planes, I just can’t get enough of it.

Finally, the last must have for any long flight is good company. Time fly’s on long flights when you have someone to banter with, even if it’s only over the mundane food and bossy air hostesses. Sadly, on my next overseas journey I will be all alone on the flight there and back. I have never flown solo before and I have to say, I am extremely nervous. I keep telling myself that it will be good for me. Ha, I guess all will be revealed shortly…

One Bridesmaids Makeup

My sister was in Sydney to be a bridesmaid for one of her friends, last weekend. We don’t get to see her much, so I agreed to do her makeup for the wedding.

That saturday proved to be a busy one, but I squeezed her in. And I only did the makeup. It was just a simple smokey-ish eye with a little pink and natural /pink lips. (please excuse the kitchen, food, people in the background. There were heaps of people and we barely had space to move) They wore black dresses so and had pink flowers, so anything goes!

This is some of the products used.

  • Mac Select Tint spf15
  • Maybelline Falsies (read about it here)
  • Maybelline Gel Liner (read about it here)
  • Mac Barbie blush (palet and individual)
  • Clinique All About Lips (to keep lips all nice and your colour on)
  • Dior Illuminator
  • Dior Lash Maximiser (put it on before mascara)
  • Estee Lauder lip liner
  • Eyeshadow, mostly grey. Not sure what brand.
  • Artist Brushes (love them, read about it here)

Priceline Mini Haul

I thought that because it was such a nice day that it would be a good idea to put Evie in the pram and go for a walk. So I walked, and we ended up at the local shops. I keep meaning to get some hand sanitizer for my nappy bag and some child Nurofen, so we popped into the Priceline Pharmacy.

We walked out with a few other things too, that I needed, of course!

  • Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow. I don’t really need any more lip products but when I saw this I was suckered in and had to have it.
  • Cutex Crystal Glass Nail File. I have been wanting one for ages and my 2 year old may let me do her nails with this. Fingers crossed.
  • Rexona Women Naturals. The days are getting hotter and while I am breastfeeding I don’t like to use sprays.
  • Dettol Healthy Touch Hand Sanitizer. (what we went in for) To put in the nappy bag for times when there are no taps to wash hands after changes.
  • I did also get the Nurofen for kids too

Cant wait to try the Baby Lips, its supposed to give me my perfect pink glow based on my lip chemistry.

Hey, why should your insides get all that good stuff? Now your lips and face can join in on the fun. RRP: $9.95 for 2.6 gms, available from David Jones and Priceline.

Pure Fiji Coconut Hydrating Body Lotion – The first thing I noticed about this product was the amazing smell, it takes you back to lying on a tropical beach somewhere soaking up the hot sun. No wonder this lotion smells so delicious. Pure Fiji Coconut Hydrating Lotion contains a blend of coconut milk and exotic nuts, each working together to hydrate the skin making it feel soft and fresh. Now that’s what we like to hear, all natural products that wont harm our skin and make us look great! I have only used this eye balm a couple of times so far and it seems to be working. The thing about this product is that it does leave a slight amount of excess, that is easily fix though with a quick wipe.  I recommend using the eye cream twice a day to get maximum benefits and fight away those wrinkles. RRP: $40 for 15gms.

All I Want For Christmas is…….

The time has come, there are only a few weeks left until Christmas. For anyone stuck for ideas about what we would like for Christmas we have compiled a short (ish) list of things we would love to find under the tree on Christmas morning (thanks Santa).

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm in Whoppin’ Watermelon. I think its the name that has me sold on this one.  I love it! Chubby Stick, hahahah ahhh. Apart from the name this super-nourishing balm is loaded with mango and shea butters. Just what dry, delicate lips need to feel comfortably soft and smooth. Available in 8 natural looking tints, with sheen.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream – the best of skincare with the benefit of make-up. 1 product to deliver 5 instant benefits: Hydrates for 24hrs, Evens tone, Corrects blemishes, Boosts healthy glow, UV Protection SPF 15. So why wouldn’t you want this?!

Uberkate Love Lines Pendant – we have just given away one of these beautiful pendants and now I would like one too!

Kardasian Kolor – Nicole by OPI has joined forces with this famous family and developed some pretty rad colours for our pretty fingers. There are 14 shades in the collection and I plan to get everyone on them (you here that bf! All of them). And they are a bargain at only $14.95, pretty great for OPI right!?!

Dear Santa…

As you know I have been fairly good this year, I even kept my New Years promise and went on a diet that lasted a whole week! I know, I know, it has not been all good but, for the most part I would say I have been an angel. And because of this, I don’t know, I thought I might be able to get some kind of little reward? What do you say? I promise I will love you forever if you put this under my Christmas tree this year.

So you want to know what it is? Okay, I will tell you…it’s the Michael Kors for Estee Lauder set in Pewter! I have included a picture for you just in case you need some help in finding it for me….

What do you think? Pretty rad huh. So can I pretty pretty please have this, I promise I will be good all year. If you need some help finding this amazing gift pack for me  you can point your little elves over to any Myers or David Jones store and they can pick it up for the reasonable price of $125.00, not bad for all the amazing things you get in it.

Not only do you get the gorgeous pewter coloured Michael Kors clutch, you also get a lipstick, lip gloss, eyeliner, powder brush and eye and cheek lip palette. I can not wait to try these products out and they are all made by Estee Lauder so you just know they will be good. How great would all these colours be for that amazing New Years Eve party and the endless summer party season ahead..

Every Good Swivel Deserves Another..

Cracked, dry lips, is there really anything worse? At this point in time I have to scream with a big fat NO! This weather is literally driving my lips crazy! Sweltering hot, cold, raining, humid, every day seems like a different season and my lips are feeling the confusion. One minute they are all nice and mosturized, with no signs of dryness and the next they are the complete opposite. I needed a good remedy and pronto, enter Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick. My saviour, my night and shining armour if you will.

Palmers Swivel stick is the ultimate double whammy product, a  great lip balm for your dry lips (holla) and also a fantastic moisturizer for other dry areas like your face and arms. It is great for an on-the-spot moisterizer for dry skin and is so compact you can fit it into the most tinniest of handbags. It is so jam packed with Vitamin E that you can notice an istant difference in your lips, they suddenly feel all hydrated and smooth.

I have had my beautiful Swivel Stick for about a year now and I still have so much left, I hope it never runs out! I love to apply the lip balm after I exfoliate my lips with Lush Lip Scrub.

RRP: Around the $4.00 mark for 14g. Available from Priceline and all good pharmacies nationwide.

An oldy but a goodie..

Lately I have been wearing lots and lots of lipstick and lipgloss that my poor lips are in need of some attention. They are dry and rough at the same time and really need a good exfoliation to make them smooth and luscious again (okay, that might be taking it a bit far). I am sure you lipstick loving girls out there know what I am talking about, holla.

Then one night an amazing flash back come to me..I had the very thing I needed to make all this go away, and the product was sitting right in my bathroom draw. I don’t know how I could have forgotten about this little product, considering I see it everyday when I take out my toothpaste. The little miracle that I am ranting on about is Lush Lip Scrub in the sweet Bubblegum flavour.

Lush Lip Scrub is such a sweet product, I’m serious, sweet tooth beauties out there beware, you maybe inclined to eat it. Not only does it smell incredibly delicious it also contains organic jojoba oil and exfoliating castor sugar to erase all that rough skin, leaving your lips feeling soft, smooth and ready for more lipstick.

And it’s so easy, all you need to do is scrap a little scrub on your finger and rub it over your lips. When you are finished rinse it off with water, I also like to apply a lip balm after just to make my lips feel extra special.

HOT TIP: If you need a good exfoliator in a hurry and have no time to go to the shops, you can whip up one at home. All you need to do is mix a teaspoon of honey with some raw sugar and there you have it, a home-made lip exfoliator. This one is also good enough to eat!

RRP: $9.95 for Bubblegum, Sweet Lips or Mint Julips flavour. Available from all Lush stores.
