One Bridesmaids Makeup

My sister was in Sydney to be a bridesmaid for one of her friends, last weekend. We don’t get to see her much, so I agreed to do her makeup for the wedding.

That saturday proved to be a busy one, but I squeezed her in. And I only did the makeup. It was just a simple smokey-ish eye with a little pink and natural /pink lips. (please excuse the kitchen, food, people in the background. There were heaps of people and we barely had space to move) They wore black dresses so and had pink flowers, so anything goes!

Maybe she’s born with it……Gel Eye Liner

I don’t know about you but I really struggle with eye liner pencils but then I am hopeless at liquid eye liners too. Ah……what to do? I have the answer! Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner by Mabelline NY. This little pot contains the answer to all your eye lining needs.

Weather you like your eye liner think or thin, or with a flick or only on the top this gel will work and stay perfectly all day. It comes in Blackest Black or Brown so you don’t always have to have a really dark eye line and it is 100% waterproof and smudge proof (unlike many pencils out there).

I tried the Blackest Black gel. When I hear ‘gel’ I always think of one of those big pots of runny, stinky, sticky hair gel that my brother used to use and get all over the bathroom sink(yuck) This is not like that gel, it is not runny and definitely not sticky and it doesn’t smell at all. I applied it using the brush that comes with it. I found it went on quite smoothly but it did make the line quite think, which is not my cup of tea, but it did look good.

I have used a different brand gel eye liner before and always applied it with an angle brush, so I gave it a try with the Maybelline gel. The angle brush gave a nice solid line and was not as thick as when I used the other brush. You can build it easily for a thinker line. If your going for a smoky look, before it dries using a clean brush or a cotton tip, just lightly smudge it on the lower lash line. It stayed strong all day so I am definitely putting this one straight into my makeup kit. (PS I did this pretty quickly one morning so its a bit messy but you get the idea).

One thing…make sure you put the lid back on when you finished using it, otherwise it will dry out.

Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner should be suitable for all eyes and hopefully wont irritate, it is ophthalmologist tested and free from fragrances.

Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner is available from Priceline, Target, Woolworths, Big W, chemists and everywhere else that stocks Maybelline.

RRP $16.95 (very affordable)

How to…Apply False Eye Lashes.

The Makeup Case is starting a new section which we are calling “How to…” A section outlining steps to achieve different makeup styles, hairstyles you name it and we will try to write about it. The first cab off the rank in “How to” is applying false eyelashes. So here we go;

Before false lashes have been applied.

The first step is to apply all your eye makeup; eye shadow, eyeliner and yes you still should apply some mascara. To apply false lashes you will need a few tools; tweezers, eyelash glue, lashes and scissors. The first thing that you need to do is measure the false lashes against your eye. Falsies come in many different sizes so you may need to trim a bit of the length so they fit.

After you have done your measuring squirt out a little bit of glue onto a tissue and holding the falsies with tweezers sweep the top bit of the lash through it. You will notice the lashes have smaller hairs at one end and longer hairs at the other, apply the side with the smaller lashes to the inside of the eyes.

You should then blow a little air onto the glue just so it doesn’t run and the glue goes a little stickier. Close your eye and apply the lashes with tweezers. Keep your eyes closed for a couple of minutes until the glue dries. Once you feel that it has, slowly open your eye, check out your handy work and start all over again on the other side.

After false lashes have been applied.

After.

There are many brands of false lashes out there and if you are only going to use them a single time I suggest you go with Manicare. You can get false lashes that will last you up to 10 uses if you look after them well enough from M.A.C, Gorgeous and The Makeup Store.

If there is any other technique you would love us to show in “How to..” we would love to hear from you.

RRP: $8.00 – $30.00 Depending on the quality and if the lashes are real hairs or fake hairs.

False lashes………?

This mascara first caught our attention through the Maybelline tv ad. It’s the same music for one of my most favourite tv shows Magnum PI, great 80’s crime drama. So loving Maybelline mascara (Great Lash Mascara) we thought its worth a try.

I’m not sure if it makes you look like you’re wearing false lashes but it certainly makes your lashes longer and really black (which we love). The flexible spoon brush helps to lift and separate lashes so you get great coverage and more visible lashes from corner to corner. It even works well with disposable mascara wands, we always use them to keep our mascara clean and hygienic.

We always use the Falsies Volum’ Express black drama waterproof mascara. It goes on smooth and lasts all day. All you need to do is apply one coat, then before it dries apply another coat. Keep building up until you get the lashes you are after.

Its Ophthalmologist tested and contact lens safe so if perfect for everyone. My favourite thing…….the bright purple tube! Makes it so easy to find in my makeup bag.

Have you tried it? Let us know what you think.

Why not check it out at Maybelline
