Clean Detox with Garnier

I always thought that to have good skin you had to buy expensive skin care products. Just like champagne, expensive is always best. Right? Wrong.

For years I used all Clinique products and my skin always looked and felt good (well I thought so anyway) It wasn’t until I had my first baby and wasn’t working full time that I decided that I had to try something else. So each tme one of my Clinique products ran out I went and bought something a little less expensive.

I stumbled upon Garnier, one shopping day, on sale at Priceline, so I thought I would give it a go. I went for the Clean Detox Gentle Exfoliating Scrub and the Refreshing Cleansing Gel.

The Cleansing Gel removes all your makeup and impurities so is perfect to use at the end of the day. I usually use it in the shower before bed so my skin is clean and refreshed .

I love a good exfoliator and this one stacks up. I use it every morning and it keeps my skin smooth and blemish free and removes all those dead skin cells that make your skin look dull. It has tiny exfoliating beads that are gentle on your skin so you can use it every day. Both have extracts of green mint and grape anti-oxidants so they smell good too.

I always follow with a toner and moisturiser. At the moment I am using Simple Soothing Facial Toner, on a cotton pad smoothed all over my face and neck, and follow with the very last of my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. As you can see they are both nearly empty so I will be able to try something new very soon.

I love  how my skin feels using these products and just proves that you don’t have to spend a lot of money. So why not give them a go? They are around $10 each, bargain.

What skin care do you use for your face?

Tangled, untangled

I have been meaning to get myself a detangler for my hair for ages. When I do think about it, I’m out and I get overwhelmed by the choice and give up, I wish this was the case when I enter the confectionary isle in the supermarket!

So when Garnier sent us a detangle at Christmas I thought all my prayers had been answered. I didn’t have to pick one and I would have un-tangled hair! It is the Garnier Fructis Instant Detangler, Nutri-Repair for dry, damaged hair.

I followed the instruction and applied it to my hair just after I washed it, so it was still wet, and combed it through. My hair gets really knotty if I don’t take the time to brush it regularly and can still be tangled after I have used conditioner. I found that it made it much easier to comb through when it was wet but the best bit was when I got up the next morning. I found that my hair was not as tangled as usual and really easy to brush out any pesky tangles that did find their way into my hair over night.

I have been using it each time I wash my hair. Not only does it detangle but it is also enriched with fruit oils that penetrate the hair and nourish and repair it from within. Oh and it really is light weight so I don’t feel like I am wearing a helmut all day! My hair isn’t really dry and damaged but the summer sun and swimming all the time does take its toll on my hair and this does help. So try it, I recommend it!

Check it out at Garnier or in store where ever you buy your fav Garnier products.

Garnier and Caffeine, can’t go wrong

After staring at a computer screen all day long my eyes start looking like a scary horror film. I get dark circles under my eyes and bags the size of a Yaris airbags. I never usually suffer with this annoying condition, I think the lack of sleep and flourescent office lighting are all equally to blame, I am not however, going to let it linger around like an annoying aunt on Christmas day. I am going to nail this problem in its naughty behind straight away! How am I going to do this? I shall tell you, with a little gem called Radiance Caffeine Eye Roll On, a smart product developed by the one and only Garnier.

Now for the low down on this little beauty, and the key ingredient that is going to make our tired eyes disappear.. caffeine! Caffine is the mother of anti-tiredness ingredients, you know how awake and energized you feel after that morning coffee? Well imagine that, but for your eyes .

The most attractive part of this product (besides the caffine, obviously) is the metal ball that you roll under your eyes. When I first applied the formula it took me a little by surprise, it gave my delicate under eye skin an immediate cooling feeling. My eyes started to feel more awake and rejuvenated and I felt like I looked okay to face the day. My dark circles did not immediately disappear although the skin under my eyes began to look more and more full, with no more of those annoying creases that can make you look tired.

RRP: $17.95 for 15ml. Available from pharmacies, department stores, and supermarkets aka pretty much anywhere.

Brighten your skin for Summer!

Summer is just around the corner and its time to get your winter skin ready for showing. Because I always wear long pants and jumpers in winter I quite often forget that I have skin under there and don’t look after it! Ahh…… so when there is a hint of warmth I go crazy with exfoliators and moisturiser to make my skin acceptable to be seen in public.

This year I found Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days. I chose the conditioning lotion Brightening Cocoa Butter, mostly because I love the smell of cocoa butter and this one did not disappoint! I love that they say it is long lasting hydration that can be felt up to 7 days, because lets face it, if there is an easy way to do something, I will find it.

This one is for dry, dull skin. The cocoa butter is supposed to contain a high concentration of skin conditioning natural oils that replenish essential nutrients and antioxidants to smooth the skins texture and brighten skins tone. I’m not sure if I can see that my skin looks brighter but it is really moisturising.

I use it everyday after a shower on my arms and legs, the lotion is nice and soft and smooth and it absorbs pretty quickly and isn’t greasy. If I happen to forget one day (or my little girl has hidden the bottle somewhere), my skin still feels soft and moisturised. It’s the L-bifidus (like the good stuff in yoghurt) that creates an anti-evaporation effect to retain hydration. I don’t have really dry skin so it is extra moisturising but if you do have really dry skin then definitely try this.

Best of all it is very affordable and comes in a big bottle so you don’t run out too soon. I am on my 3rd bottle now and I can assure you that I will be getting more.

RRP $6.95 for 400ml. Available from Priceline, supermarkets and all good pharmacies.

Thermo active spray to the rescue..

If you loving using your straightening iron as much as I do then you need to invest in a good heat protective spray and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. constantly blow drying, straightening and curling your hair can cause your beautiful locks to dry out and become brittle which in turn cause split ends and breakage, no thank you, hence a good heat protective is vital.

This is where Garnier Fructis Thermo Active Spray Sleek and Shine comes into play. Not only does this spray smell delicious (I am not kidding you, it actually smells so sweet that I want to eat it), it contains a heat protective agent and gets rid of that annoying frizz that most of us have to endure through the more humid months.

If you are a bit of a lazy bugger then this is perfect for you, it is so quick and easy and because the spray is heat activated, it is just a matter of spraying your damp hair and then blow drying or straightening as usual. Another great thing about this product is that it is infused with all natural ingredients like  bamboo (the first Garnier product to use this, just in case you didn’t know), vitamin fruit extracts and xylose, they all work together to protect, nourish and condition your hair.

I have been using Sleek and Shine going on a month now and my hair feels so healthy and the best part is all those annoying fly aways and frizz around the side of my face have gone. After towel drying my hair I flip it upside down and spray the heck out of it, I then wait a little bit for my hair to dry naturally before I get into the blow dryer. Blow drying and straightening seem a lot easier when I use the spray and on the odd occassion I forget to use it (usually after a long night out) I really notice the difference. Oh, and another amazing thing, the bottle has a ring that lets you turn the spary lever on or off. So so so handy when you are travelling, belive me!

RRP: $7.95 for 150ml. Available from Pharmacies, department stores and supermarkets.
