Something a little fun and maybe scary..

Oh my gosh…it’s been a while!

So much has happened, babies, jobs, houses lalalalal but enough of that and onto the good stuff.

MaKeUp, that is why we are here after all.

I am in love with skulls and anything Dawn of The Dead inspired which made me super happy to be asked to do this awesome makeup the other day.

The brief was scary, red and Dawn of the Dead…Yesss. Here is the end result.

A Pregnancy Shoot

This was the first time I had done makeup and hair for a pregnancy shoot!

This lovely lady was about 6 months pregnant at the time and was glowing! It was just simple makeup and curled hair.

She already has a beautiful little lady, who also received a bit of pampering.

My Best Friends Wedding

If you are a regular Makeup Case reader you will know that one half, Bec, was engaged to be married. Well, the day has come! Miss Rebecca became Mrs Rebecca on the 8th of November 2013. It was truly a beautiful event with a small group of their close family.

This small event then grew to something massive and took over the entire weekend. She celebrated her nuptials with all their friends, and family, on Sunday. It was a casual affair and little bit carnival. I was the Maid of Honour. (Not sure when it’s maid or matron, please let me know the difference and if I’m right or wrong!)

Here are a few photos from the wedding. Mostly Sunday but maybe a cheeky one from Friday too.

Philips VisaPure Cleansing Brush Review and Giveaway

I love my skin looking good so I was really excited to try the Philips VisaPure.

I was impressed from the moment I opened the box. It is a really streamlined design, and easy to hold, it is also waterproof. So I can use it in the shower in the morning, which saves me time.

You can use it with your favourite cleanser and it vibrates and rotates so it removes makeup and dirt and clears away dead skin cells. The movement gives a massaging effect that improves circulation to bring out your skins natural radiance.

I get acne and pimples along my jawline. I hate it! I have been told to exfoliate to help clear it up, trouble is, exfoliating can make the rest of my face dry and sensitive. So I don’t do it as often as I should. The VisaPure sure did the trick. After a few days of using it, my skin was clearing up nicely. Thank you very much. While your cleansing, the brush pauses for a second, this means that you need to move to the next section. Pretty cool huh?!

“An added benefit of Philips’ VisaPure technology is that it prepares the skin for other skincare products and treatments women may use, enhancing absorption of the beneficial ingredients,” says Tom Paltridge of Philips

It’s true, my moisturiser seems to sink in better, leaving my skin feeling more hydrated all day.

We Can All Be A Killer Queen

Katy Perry says that we can all be Killer Queens and I believe her. I would believe anything Katy Perry says because I absolutely love her!

I was so excited when we were sent Katy Perry new fragrance Killer Queen, I hoped that I would love it…and I do! I adore it so much that it is now in my top fragrances that I have on high rotation. I am not usually one for celebrity fragrances but this.. I LOVE!

Katy Perry said that she really wanted to inspire women and bring out the power inside on them, creating the perfume around strong and confident woman. I don’t know how she did it but I actually smell that when I spray Killer Queen. It is such a beautiful fragrance that once settled into your skin creates a musky floral aroma.

Killer Queen top notes are wild berry, dark plum and bergmot. Middle notes; red velvet flower, natural jasmine sambac and rainbow plumeria. Base notes; cashmeran, natural patchouli and liquid praline.

The design of the bottle is inspired by a queens scepter and is super stylish and sexy. The bold red coloring and gold trimming of the bottle give it a feeling of sophistication and elegance that you don’t find with many new fragrances these days.

Check out the awesome clip for Killer Queen.

RRP: 100ml $69, 50ml $49 and 30ml $39.

Style your look with Batiste Cherry and WIN

Look what we styled!

For your chance to win a $1,000.00 wardrobe from Market HQ, head to the Batiste Australia Facebook page and style your own look.

Its super fun and a great way to show off your inner fashionista. I know we can defiantly do with a wardrobe update right about now. We decided to go with black and red for our color scheme as it goes with the cherry back ground we picked. This winter I am loving hats, bowler hats, fedora hats, you name it and I want to wear it.

You must know by now that The Makeup Case is a HUGE fan of Batiste. Whenever there is a new style design or fragrance we are the first ones to get in line and buy one.

At the moment we are loving the new Cherry fragrance and design, it is so stylish and retro. I always have a Batiste in my handbag and with this new design I cant stop looking in my bag! I just love the color of the can and the fragrance…oh the fragrance…its divine!! All the time I spray some on my locks I think of baking a cherry pie or eating a cherry ripe ( probably not so good with my upcoming nuptials in a few months).

Check out our previous post on Batiste HERE.

Tandem Bike Wedding

Here is a wedding we recently did. The bride is one of my sister in-laws best friends. It was a beautiful wedding and I have never seen someone more happy and excited to be getting married!

The bride was given, by her fiance, the tandem bike from the movie Australia, as an engagement present. It is the coolest vintage bike you will ever see! (I have secret bike envy.) The whole wedding was so pretty and vintage.

Here are a few photos from the wedding. We did the bride, bridesmaid (in the lace) and the mothers makeup. They were such a lovely family and we wish Belinda and Phil all the best in their life together.

The photographer was Fiona from Snippets Photography you can also check her out on Facebook She is a lovely girl and has amazing wedding shots.

Great Gatsby/Vintage wedding inspiration

We recently did a hair and makeup trial for a lovely lady for her wedding. The theme is a bit of a jumble because she didn’t want a “theme” wedding. She explained it as vintage, Great Gatsby, carnival, elegant. It is also a 4 day event. So I think it is going to be something special and a time they will remember forever!

Where did we look for inspiration? Pinterest! Of course! This is some of what we came up with. I love some of these hairstyles and head pieces.

What do you think?

What is makeup primer?

We get asked all the time “what is primer?” and “should I use it.” We answer….if you want flawless makeup then use it. If you can’t be bothered with the extra step in the morning….then don’t worry about it. But what is it? Read on……all will be revealed.

Primer is designed to smooth and conceal fine lines and uneven skin texture, it gives a smooth, even surface to apply your makeup and it helps it stay on all day. They are usually made from things like waxes, polymers, and silicone, and often contain SPF to block the sun.

There are different types of primers for different types of skin. There is light weight, silicon based for oily or acne prone skin, it will be labelled ‘oil free’, and for dry or aging skin try a more creamy one which will contain waxes, lotions or emollients.

Primers can also be transparent or coloured. Depending on the colour, they can help hide dark circles, redness, age spots and un-even skin tone.

Now you know what it is and what’s in it, how and when do you apply it. Good question.

You should apply it after moisturiser, but before foundation or concealer. Wait a few minutes after moisturising, so it sinks in, then apple your primer of choice. Wait a few more minutes, then put your face on. We generally use a brush or sponge to apply it, but at home, if you want to use your fingers, thats ok too. Just make sure your hands are clean!

There are heaps of different primers on the market, so start with your favourite brand and go from there.

Here are some that one of our fav bloggers has reviewed. The Plastic Diaries. Click through and see what she thinks.

You can also get primers for lips, eyeshadow and mascara. They basically do the same thing but we will save them for another day.

Let us know if there is any other products that you are not sure about and we will do our darndest to help.
