Clean Detox with Garnier

I always thought that to have good skin you had to buy expensive skin care products. Just like champagne, expensive is always best. Right? Wrong.

For years I used all Clinique products and my skin always looked and felt good (well I thought so anyway) It wasn’t until I had my first baby and wasn’t working full time that I decided that I had to try something else. So each tme one of my Clinique products ran out I went and bought something a little less expensive.

I stumbled upon Garnier, one shopping day, on sale at Priceline, so I thought I would give it a go. I went for the Clean Detox Gentle Exfoliating Scrub and the Refreshing Cleansing Gel.

The Cleansing Gel removes all your makeup and impurities so is perfect to use at the end of the day. I usually use it in the shower before bed so my skin is clean and refreshed .

I love a good exfoliator and this one stacks up. I use it every morning and it keeps my skin smooth and blemish free and removes all those dead skin cells that make your skin look dull. It has tiny exfoliating beads that are gentle on your skin so you can use it every day. Both have extracts of green mint and grape anti-oxidants so they smell good too.

I always follow with a toner and moisturiser. At the moment I am using Simple Soothing Facial Toner, on a cotton pad smoothed all over my face and neck, and follow with the very last of my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. As you can see they are both nearly empty so I will be able to try something new very soon.

I love  how my skin feels using these products and just proves that you don’t have to spend a lot of money. So why not give them a go? They are around $10 each, bargain.

What skin care do you use for your face?

My Pregnant Saviours

We mentioned recently that I am expeciting my second baby in May, so I thought I would share with you a few of the things that are making me feel better about my changing body and keeping me sane.

Because I am feeding an extra mouth not only do I get hungry all the time but I am also really really thirsty, and so is my skin.
It seems no matter how much water I drink I still need to moisturise, buff and polish all the time. So what am I using?

Clinique all about eyes, de-puffing eye massage. It has a roller ball and is really cooling when applied. I use it every morning for hydrating my eye area and also helps with my dark circles from lack of sleep as well.

Simple smoothing scrub. I am prone to breakouts around my jaw line but since using this my skin is clear, exfoliated and free from blemishes. Perhaps its the multi vitamin goodness, and a combination of toning and moisturising I follow the scrub with.

Palmers Cocoa Butter daily Calming Lotion. I have previously advocated that every pregnant lady should use the Palmers Cocoa Butter for Stretchmarks as I did for my first pregnancy. This time, I cannot stand the smell of the Stretchmark cream formula (just pregnant hormones) but I have been using the daily Calming Lotion on my belly and so far…..free from any marks. It is for severely dry itchy skin and is a blend of soy, chamomile and oats. Its new and due on the shelves in March/April so keep your eye out for this one. I imagine it would be great for sunburn too.

The Body Collection Spa Organics, soothing mint foot cream. I received this as a gift for Christmas and it is nearly all gone. It came in a pack with a pumice stone, foot scrub/exfoliator and the moisturiser. I use the scrub once or twice a week but I use the moisturiser at least twice daily. It is infused with lavender and tea tree oils and has an instant cooling effect. Great for my swollen ankles after a long day at work.

Brighten your skin for Summer!

Summer is just around the corner and its time to get your winter skin ready for showing. Because I always wear long pants and jumpers in winter I quite often forget that I have skin under there and don’t look after it! Ahh…… so when there is a hint of warmth I go crazy with exfoliators and moisturiser to make my skin acceptable to be seen in public.

This year I found Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days. I chose the conditioning lotion Brightening Cocoa Butter, mostly because I love the smell of cocoa butter and this one did not disappoint! I love that they say it is long lasting hydration that can be felt up to 7 days, because lets face it, if there is an easy way to do something, I will find it.

This one is for dry, dull skin. The cocoa butter is supposed to contain a high concentration of skin conditioning natural oils that replenish essential nutrients and antioxidants to smooth the skins texture and brighten skins tone. I’m not sure if I can see that my skin looks brighter but it is really moisturising.

I use it everyday after a shower on my arms and legs, the lotion is nice and soft and smooth and it absorbs pretty quickly and isn’t greasy. If I happen to forget one day (or my little girl has hidden the bottle somewhere), my skin still feels soft and moisturised. It’s the L-bifidus (like the good stuff in yoghurt) that creates an anti-evaporation effect to retain hydration. I don’t have really dry skin so it is extra moisturising but if you do have really dry skin then definitely try this.

Best of all it is very affordable and comes in a big bottle so you don’t run out too soon. I am on my 3rd bottle now and I can assure you that I will be getting more.

RRP $6.95 for 400ml. Available from Priceline, supermarkets and all good pharmacies.
