Last Sunday, July 1st, we were face painting! It’s not something we usually do but we were volunteering our time for a good cause.
You may or may not have heard about Talin’s Wish. He was recently featured on A Current Affair. 5 year old Talin’s Hawkins was diagnosed with a brain tumor by doctors around Easter this year. Unfortunately, the tumor was found to be a high grade, stage 4 Pontine Malignant Glioma in the brain stems. This is an aggressive form of tumor which is inoperable and life ending.
Daniel from Look to Sea and Mick from Surf for Sanity got together to raise money for Talin, and other kids and their families as they battle cancer. And Talin’s Rose Paddle for Life was born.
A 3km or 6km route starting and finishing in Rose Bay on whatever paddle powered vessel you wanted.
It was a chilly start to the morning on the water at Woollahra Sailing Club. But once the sun came up a crowd gathered to cheer on the paddlers, eat a delicious BBQ and home made treats and the kids had their face painted and hair sprayed.
Here are some photos of our face painting!
Talin’s Rose is made possible through the Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation, which is a charity working to help those with cancer. The charity is registered with the Australian Taxation Department and all donations of AUD $2 or more are fully tax deductible.
Thanks to Erin and Maddie from The Makeup Technicians and Katrina from About Face Sydney for all their efforts face painting.
