Summer loving with a summer tan

We love summer and everything that comes along with it. Ice cream, going to the beach, Sunday cocktails and tanning! Because we are so skin conscious we never sun bake but we lovvveeee the fake stuff. And I’m talking the fake stuff that actually makes you go brown not orange.

The Makeup Case has been lucky enough to try out the amazing Bondi Sands range of fake tan, just in time for the best months of the year. Bondi Sands is an Australian owned company that in my opinion makes the best tan that I have used in a long time.

I have been using the self tanning lotion in dark every week for about 2 months now and I cant live without it. It provides the perfect colour and is so easy to use, you just add some tanning lotion to the application glove and rub it over your skin. Because the lotion comes out dark you can see it as you apply it to your skin and the glove helps with applying an even tan without those annoying streaks.

What I also love about this tan is that it smells delicious, like coconut, all the time I put it on it brings me back to my holiday in Mexico sipping cocktails. Bondi Sands products are also enriched with Aloe Vera to help moisturize your skin. I found that if I looked after my skin and moisturized daily my tan would last me about a week before I needed to top it up.

Here is a picture of me sporting my Bondi Sands tan at my recent engagement party. Yep, I got engaged in New York in November. I am super excited! The man sporting the Merv Hughes mo is my new fiance (he doesn’t always have a mo, it was for Movember lol).

Our Favourites….in September

There’s lots of things we can’t live without but we couldn’t possible use them everyday. But here are a few of the things that we must and have used everyday in September.

Burts Bees Tinted Lip balm in Hibiscus (official Liptember Lippy) It goes without saying that we use this everyday, after all it is Liptember! It goes on nice and smooth and lasts on your lips for ages. It is only slightly tinted, just enough colour to make me feel like i don’t have a naked face. Oh and it also keeps my lips nice and soft and moisturised. Read about Liptember

David Jones Ultra Mascara in Black. I picked this up one day when I was trying to find a birthday present (i don’t think i did get that present) and I love it. The package says it’s volumising and lengthening but I’m not sure it does both. It smooths on my lashes easily and makes them look longer. I wear it everyday because it makes me feel like I’m ready for anything and it easily removes with warm water. RRP $14.95 from David Jones.

Eco Tan – Tan Away Glove. Now, one of us is not as keen as the other about self tanning. Honestly I just cant be bothered sometimes but I do like to have fresh glowing skin. So from the day I put my Tan Away glove in the shower not a week has passed without using it. I usually use it every 3rd day or so all over my body with my favourite body wash, followed by a lathering of moisturiser and my skin is feeling soft and silky. Click here to read the post

Mac Face and Body. Perfect for everyday or a night out on the town. Goes on nice and smooth and builds for more coverage (when I’m having bad skin days). I usually wear it how it comes for that dewy look but if I’m going out at night I will use a powder over it for staying power and a smooth matt finish. Read our post

A buff and buff to blow that dead skin away..

The tanning season is nearly upon us, which brings a great deal of responsiblity, da da damm, tan ready skin. There are so many ways of achieving this; exfoliating, moisturizer, eating loads of banana cake (okay, so maybe that won’t help but, I can guarantee it will be loads of fun). Or you can use the Tan-Away Glove, an extreme exfoliator designed by the organic tanning company Eco Tan.

The glove comes in such a cute box that as soon as I got this little beauty in the post, I wanted to use it straight away. What was also awesome about it was that I was planning on tanning that very night so I had more of a reason to try it out. I hoped in the shower with the glove that promised to remove all my dead skin cells to reveal fresh rejuvenated skin, skin that will be glowing and ready for tanning. I lathered the glove with a touch of coconut body wash (come on, I was dreaming about summer and this was going to take me there), and began scrubbing the dead skin from around my elbows and legs, I also had the remains of an old tan around my ankles so I got to work on that too.

The glove felt so soft on my skin, not at all like one of those hard exfoliation gloves I had used in the past. Once I had finished I simply rinsed the glove and hang it to dry on the shower handle, how easy is this. And the best part of it all, I had no more old tan around my ankles, my skin on my arms and legs felt soft and brand new and I was ready for the tanning season.

The Eco Tan-Away Glove is absolutely natural, the fabric that is used to make the glove is cellulose fibre extracted from the plant broom of the Ginestra plant, the dye that Eco Tan uses in the glove is also eco-friendly. When you use the Eco Tan-Away Glove you can somehow feel that it is not harming your skin, maybe this is why I love using it every night now, even when I don’t have to tan.

RRP: $24.95. Available from Eco Tan online retail store or you can check out their Stockists for a location near you.

Every girl loves a good natural tan…Right?

During our recent trip to the International Beauty & Spa Expo we were fortunate enough to see a lot of amazing products, one that particularly caught my eye was a company named Eco Tan. Being a girl that loves summer I have always been on the look out for the best fake tan I could possibly find. One that leaves your skin brown, not orange, one that is streak free and without that yucky fake tan smell, well I found all of these things in Eco Tan Invisible Tan.

Eco Tan is an Australian owned and made company that produce organic tanning products without any hidden awful chemicals. They have the only organic tan to be certified by the Organic food chain (OFC), all their products are completely natural and are 70% certified organic. Here is a list of the ingredients that they use in their products as opposed to chemicals; Chamomile Flower extract, Avocado Oil (told you it was in everything), Honeysuckle Flower Extract, Rosewood Oil, Rose Geranium Oil, Grape skin Extract, Cacao Fruit, Aloe Vera, Glycerin and Bergamont. Eco Tan does not contain any Silicone, Food colouring, Artificial Dyes, Animal Derivatives, Petrochemicals, SD Alcohol, Parabens and Phenoxyethanol. Does this not want you to try this amazing product or what?!? Not only is it going to give an amazing tan but you don’t get any of those disgusting chemicals to go with it.

As soon as I got home from Beauty Expo I had a long hot shower (too much info? After a long day of walking around with a bunch of people you would have wanted one to). While I was enjoying my relaxing shower I was jolted back to reality when I remembered the new fake tan I had sitting in one of my many oversized bags in the lounge room. I couldn’t get out of the shower fast enough to try it out, I was thinking about it all day and I can’t imagine how I had forgotten about it.

I opened up the lid like it was about to disappear and lathered it onto my arms and legs, it went on so easily I decided why not put it on my tummy as well. The tan looks and feels like a moisturizer, which you apply the same way and the best part is no tan stained sheets when you wake up in the morning. Invisible Tan is best left to develop for 8 hours although you can pretty much see the tan developing within an hour or so and it will continue to develop for another 24hrs. Every 2-3 days you can reapply to keep the tan in tip top shape. I am going to stick with this tan from now on, the colour looks like a natural tan not tandoori and it is not harming my skin in the process.

There are four other tanning products in the range and you can check them out at Eco Tan.

RRP:  $31.95. Available from the Eco Tan online store or you can check out the stockist.
